Ahmedabad-based Indian artist Parth Kothekar portrays the uniqueness of Indian women as mermaids through his intricate paper cutouts. He creates detailed mermaid papercuts with the aim to display innocence, struggle, freedom, and depth of Indian women. Each paper cutout boasts mermaid figurine, featuring upper body of an Indian lady and lower body is shaped like the tail of a fish.

While most people create paper art for decorative purposes, Filipino artist Patrick Cabra aims to raise awareness for endangered species through his series of intricate animal papercuts. Created delicately with multiple layers of paper, each artwork features unique natural characteristics of the animal such as sharp canines, fierce eyes, warm fur, etc.


Realistic animal sculptures made from densely rolled newspapers Art / Handicraft / Offbeat

Instead of throwing away old newspapers as garbage, Tokyo-based artist Chie Hitotsuyama turns these pieces of paper into three-dimensional animal sculptures. The textured sculptures are made out of a technique that involves rolling strips of wet newspaper. The densely rolled newspaper strips are carefully moulded to replicate creatures from the animal kingdom.
