This designer creates colourful hotels for bees, butterflies, and other insects Design / Offbeat

A bee hotel is a place that you create for native bees to breed and flourish. Czech designer Boleslav Daska (of DILNA HAMMER) makes colourful hotels for bees, butterflies, and other insect pollinators. All these species play an important role when it comes to plant pollination, as well as, producing useful substances such as honey, silk, lacquer, and wax. But sadly most of these insect species are endangered and if it’s not saved then we’ll lose our pollinator friends soon.

To provide them a safe shelter to survive and grow conveniently, Daska creates these tiny rest houses for them. Meanwhile, these brightly coloured insect houses/hotels add a lively touch to backyards, gardens, or any other outdoor location where they’re installed.

The house for butterflies features two slotted holes to allow butterflies and moths crawling in and relaxing their wings for some time. Within the tiny shelter, there are two pieces of wood, fixed to the back wall, where these winged insects can relax for a while.

Daska’s initiative to help insect pollinators breed is worth your attention – as very few people among us are doing their bit to help endangered species survive. For those who are interested in putting these little houses in their garden, you can purchase any one of them online.
