We’re sure, just like us, even you’ll be completely blown away after looking at these incredibly realistic sculptures that look nothing like a piece of stone or marble. It would be hard for your eyes to believe that each life-like sculpture is made of solid stone by Italian sculptor Jago Jacopo Cardillo.
The 30-year-old self-taught sculptor creates stone sculptures that appear to be of aging men, baby in a womb, as well as animal figurines. We must applaud the way he portrays the beauty of birth and aging process through these lifeless art pieces that boast such realistic detailing that you’d mistake them to be a real living being.
Just have a look at the unbelievably real expression and wrinkles on the body of this man’s sculpture (in the image). Even at a closer look, one can easily mistake it to be a body-painted old man sitting right in front of them. Cardillo’s approach and dedication to realism are impressive. His art is able to defy the brain’s ability to translate what the eye is seeing.
Cardillo has literally won us over with his amazing talent. Since he childhood, he dreams of becoming an artist like Michelangelo. And, with such amount of fineness in his work, we can say that he is definitely on the right path.
